Patricia Morison

This year marked Patricia Morison's transition to Hollywood after early stage work. She signed with Paramount Pictures and made her feature film debut in the crime drama Persons in Hiding, initiating her career as a contract player in dozens of films throughout the 1940s.

This was Patricia Morison's most significant career breakthrough, originating the dual role of Lilli Vanessi and Katharine in Cole Porter's Broadway musical "Kiss Me, Kate. Her performance as the temperamental leading lady, opposite Alfred Drake, earned her widespread acclaim and became her signature role. The show was a tremendous critical and commercial success.
