Ulrich Gregor

Breakthrough Years
1963
Ulrich Gregor, along with his wife Erika Gregor, co-founded the 'Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek' in West Berlin. This organization became a vital institution for film preservation, discussion, and the presentation of international auteur cinema, laying the groundwork for his future curatorial work.
1971
Gregor, again with Erika Gregor and the 'Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek,' established the 'International Forum of New Cinema' (now simply Forum) as an independent section of the Berlin International Film Festival. This pioneering move created a crucial platform for challenging, experimental, and politically engaged films, significantly broadening the scope of the festival and film discourse.
